Known primarily for its wine, Napa Valley is also the home to a small ranch where Topshelf Leather products are custom designed and crafted along with  working ranch horses and border collies.  Our products are designed to be used and last through years, maybe even a lifetime, proudly bearing the Topshelf brand. As you will see the western style we embrace can be fun, flashy, and very functional. Here at the ranch your imagination is the only limit!

            Casey began Topshelf Leather Works after years of not being able to find quality tack built in the vaquero tradition locally.  As the saying goes, " If you want it done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself."  As a result, Topshelf Leather was born.  His love for stock dogs started while attending Chico State University where he met Al Vieira, nationally renowned dog trainer, and started his first dog Zip.  Now Topshelf Stockdogs can be found on flatbeds at ranches in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington.  We raise and train working dogs that are equally at home moving stock  as they are riding in the pickup. We believe good dogs should also have great manners.

            Cori, having grown up here on the ranch chose Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to study animal science and range management. as a student of Rob Rutherford’s Holistic management program it was natural for Cori to bring these principles back to the Ranch.  Using our flock of Dorper sheep, we graze side-by-side with the horses and cattle to affect the best possible grazing group of animals. The sheep enterprise is multi-purpose being beneficial to the working dogs as well as the star thistle abatement. In addition, finished lambs are available at times during the year.

            Topshelf Ranch and Leather shop is dedicated to quality products whether it is one of our beautiful sets of chinks, a tasty spring lamb, or the stock dogs. We don’t send anything out that we wouldn’t proudly use ourselves. Our dedication to this philosophy has rewarded us with a group of happy, repeat, customers.
